42 Challenge: Review #3: Thor: The Dark World

Yes, yes, I'm horribly behind in the Marvel movies. The husband doesn't care to deal with other people in the theaters, so we mostly watch stuff at home. We've finally started going through the backlog of SHIELD episodes (reviews to come), and it was indicated that we really should watch the movie before one episode (turns out, we didn't). So, it's been over a year since T: TDW came out, and I don't think that helped my impression of it. I think what I saw on Tumblr hyped it up too much for me. I will write a glowing review one of these days! :)

Stealing the synopsis from Rotten Tomatoes: Marvel's "Thor: The Dark World" continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel's "Thor" and "Marvel's The Avengers," Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos...but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.

So, I didn't care for this one as much as the first, or The Avengers. Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston continue to be fantastic (and easy on the eyes) as Thor and Loki, respectively. Especially Tom. Really, I do hope at some point we get a Loki and Thor centered movie, in that order. Or just a Loki movie, that would be fine. Jane...erg, she's just acting dumb. The villains are fairly forgettable and the plot as a whole didn't really grab me. Here's hoping that Thor: Ragnarok will be better in 2017.
